The Shanghai Football Club is home of the Steinlager Hairy CrabsTM, China's most successful Club Rugby side. The Club was established in September 1997 following the successful raising of capital from individual and corporate shareholders to lease the ground, lay the sod and build the clubhouse.

The Club offers kids rugby, touch rugby, contact rugby, cricket, lawn bowls, lawn tennis, social events and other special events several times a year. To cover the rent and ongoing maintenance of the Club players of all sports offered at the club are asked to join as members or pay a daily membership fee.
